This amount was raised through pre-campaign solicitation. It marks the first time Seattle has opened with such an impressive campaign figure. There has not yet been time for a card by card comparison with last year to determine either the percentage or actual dollar in- crease. It is at least an indication of our potential campaign achievement. Coming as it does when there is a recession, it also indicates understanding of people for this year's needs. v 3311V33 3AV HI 0001 - nd 331tV3 .,....0,000 As Yigal Allan pointed out, the needs of Israel as well as national and local agencies are greater than they were during the emotional shock of the Yam Kippur War. The response at the rally was truly gratifying and demonstrates the community desire for in- volvement. It is evident that the community aspires to a good campaign, and one which will put Seattle in the forefront of cities its size In America. All-City Sistel'n( od h 00eet Provides Great 00rcernoon By Bob Secord More than 200 women, representing sisterhoods throughout Seattle, plus Temple Beth El in Tacoma, celebrated Jewish Music Month at the first all- sisterhood meeting ever held in the Northwest. The January 13 meeting at Temple De Hirsch Sinai drew enthusiastic response not only to the outstanding musical program, but to the bringing together of women from many congregations on the traditional Monday sisterhood day. A genuine spirit of togetherness was evident from start to finish, and the idea of sharing the diverse talents of musicians and dancers from many congregations met with obvious approval. Applause was the order of the day. Every congregation par- ticipating was well represented and many in attendance expressed the desire to see this become an annual tradition. The spirited social afternoon was enlivened by the combined talents of the following whose per- formances included singing, dancing and instrumental of- ferings: Lucille Spring, Carol Feder, Lydia Offman, Louise Azose, Suzie Angel, Lisa Azose, Bernice Rind, the Israeli dancing group from the JCC, and the Temple De Hirsch Sinai Sisterhood choral group. The idea for this special event was born two years ago a*. a Women's Awareness Day meeting. The realization of this idea become a remarkable success thanks to the spirit of cooperation of all participating congregations. Delightful refreshments were prepared by the sisterhood of Bikur Cholim Machzikay Hadath. DeadlineSpage 3 I i Research Set New York--National Conference on Soviet Jewry chairman Stanley H.
